The Highly Skilled Worker Visa of Japan was established on April 1, 2015, as a residence status to actively accept foreigners with highly specialized capabilities. Highly skilled foreigners are classified based on their educational qualifications and work experience. Annual income and other items are evaluated based on a points system, and a score of over 70 is required. The conditions for applying for permanent residence are more lenient and there are more preferential measures. In principle, one needs to have continuously resided in Japan for more than 10 years to apply for permanent residence. If the score is over 70, one can apply for permanent residence after more than 3 years; if the score is over 80, one can apply for permanent residence after more than 1 year.

 

Japanese traditional highly qualified applicants

 

1. The principal applicant must be between 26 and 63 years old


2. The principal applicant has a company under his or her name and it has been established for more than three years (there is no limit on the shareholding ratio, but the applicant must be able to control the company's management).


3. The principal applicant has a college degree or above


4. A score of over 70 on the senior talent scoring table


5. Have no criminal record in Japan


6. If the child is under 20 years old, unmarried, financially dependent and currently enrolled, the date of submission of the visa application by the administrative scribes shall be taken as the standard
